Cardiac Calcium Scoring
Concord Hospital offers cardiac calcium scoring through the Hospital’s Radiology Department and Concord Imaging Center. Cardiac calcium scoring is a safe, painless, noninvasive, and accurate test to determine coronary artery content. High calcium content could indicate coronary artery disease and increased risk for heart disease. Patients should discuss with their primary care physician whether this test is appropriate for them. A physician referral is required for this exam. Physicians should call the Radiology Department at (603) 230-7274 or Concord Imaging Center at (603) 225-0425 to schedule appointments.

Ultrafiltration Therapy
Concord Hospital offers patients an alternative to traditional therapy for removing the accumulation of excess fluids in the body, a condition commonly caused by congestive heart failure (CHF). Patients suffering from fluid overload may now have excess fluid removed with a simple, safe, and precise treatment called ultrafiltration. With ultrafiltration therapy, healthcare providers extract a specified amount of salt and water fluids from a patient’s blood at a controlled rate, removing up to four liters of excess fluid in up to an eight-hour period. The procedure removes fluids faster than medications and without damaging side effects, often allowing patients to leave the Hospital earlier than with traditional therapies.

Therapeutic Hypothermia
This advanced technology helps Concord Hospital physicians and professional and volunteer emergency medical technicians (EMTs) save more lives by maintaining brain function in patients experiencing cardiac arrest. Brain damage can occur in patients during cardiac arrest and due to a lack of oxygen can be the cause of death even if the heart is saved through standard procedures. This noninvasive procedure uses cooling pads to keep body temperature low by moving heat away from the body. By lowering the body’s temperature post cardiac arrest, the brain can still function on low amounts of oxygen and metabolic functioning.

LifeNet
Time is muscle. That’s why many area ambulances use innovative technology that instantly transmits digital images of an individual’s heart patterns to Concord Hospital’s Emergency Department. This technology helps improve the readiness of lifesaving cardiac treatments and interventions when a patient arrives at Concord Hospital.
