Concord Hospital offers a range of services to optimally diagnose orthopaedic injuries and conditions, including:
- X-rays
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
- Computed tomography (CT) scans
- Myelography and athrograms (dye is used to help surgeons visualize a joint)
3 Telsa MRI
3 Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging (3T MRI) system offers enhanced clarity and faster scan times for more accurate and efficient diagnosis, and treatment of injuries and diseases. The most common
uses for the 3T MRI are for neurological exams of the brain and spine and musculoskeletal exams of the shoulders, wrists, elbows, and knees.
Bone (Mineral) Density Test
Bone (mineral) density scanning is a reliable way to monitor the amount of mineral present in the bones. A typical bone scan measures the bone density in a patient’s lower spine and hip
because these are the areas at greatest risk for osteoporotic fractures. However, patients can undergo a whole body scan depending on their symptoms.
The technique is precise and accurate. A patient’s results are compared to a large group of individuals of similar age and gender to determine if the patient’s bone density is below average.
Records are maintained to track any changes in bone density.
The following practices affiliated with Concord Hospital offer bone density scanning:
- Arthritis, Osteoporosis and Musculoskeletal Disease Center
- Concord Imaging Center
- Concord Orthopaedics, PA
- Dartmouth-Hitchcock Concord Department of Orthopaedics
