Why Choose Concord Hospital?
Patients of the Center for Urologic Care have access to a multidisciplinary team of experts that includes skilled urologists and surgeons specifically trained in the treatment of disorders and disease of the kidneys, bladder, and prostate; exceptional Payson Center for Cancer Care radiation and medical oncologists utilizing the most advanced technology and medical treatment options such as Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy and the 3D Ultrasound Targeting System; and group and individual counseling and support staff.
Concord Hospital board-certified urologists have comprehensive knowledge of endoscopic, percutaneous and open surgery of congenital and acquired conditions of the reproductive and urinary systems and their contiguous structures. They are performing newer, advanced procedures that require specialized training - laparoscopic nephrectomy, a minimally invasive technique for kidney removal, and interstim sacral nerve implant therapy, a mild electrical stimulation of a sacral nerve via an implantable system that includes a lead, neurostimulator and extension.
Concord Hospital houses a state-of-the-art Storz SLX-F2 Lithotripter, a device used to precisely blast kidney and ureteral stones. Extracorporeal shock-wave lithotripsy allows for a safe and remarkably accurate, non-invasive treatment in 30 minutes or less.
Concord Hospital also has the robotic, minimally invasive da Vinci Surgical System. The da Vinci Surgical System enables surgeons to perform even the most complex and delicate procedures through small incisions with exceptional precision. Concord Hospital’s high-definition, 4-arm da Vinci System - the most advanced version available as of 2007 - has twice the effective viewing resolution of older da Vinci Systems.
Concord Hospital offers Holmium Laser Ablation, a minimally invasive procedure for men who suffer from benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), also known as an enlarged prostate. The outpatient procedure is administered using a thin flexible fiber designed to transmit laser energy directly to the prostate with a high degree of precision. The laser energy vaporizes the obstructing tissue and seals the area, providing immediate symptom relief for men.
Urologist Veronica Triaca, MD will join the Center for Urologic Care to oversee the Center for Urologic Care’s comprehensive Pelvic Medicine and Continence Program in summer, 2008. Dr. Triaca will be addressing the special needs of women with urologic conditions, including incontinence, pelvic floor disorders, female sexual dysfunction, bladder and pelvic pain and urinary tract infections. Dr. Triaca will be available to provide the highest level of diagnosis, treatment and care for all patients.
